On a quarterly basis, new members are invited to an orientation where they are introduced to the Chamber/Bureau as an organization and are given the opportunity to introduce their business to others present and to exchange business cards and promotional materials. The Wasatch Food and Wine Society presents the 26th anniversary of the Nouveau Beaujolais Festival at Deer Valley in Silver Lake Lodge. Doors will open promptly at 3pm with one seating until 6pm. Deer Valley will offer a Georges DuBoeuf Nouveau Beaujolais in both casks and bottles. New this year we are adding the 2007 Georges DuBoeuf Beaujolais Village, enabling guests to compare and contrast with the Nouveau Beaujolais and the food. A full Burgundian cuisine buffet will complement the fruity young flavor of the wines, featuring an abundance of classic French dishes such as escargot, rillettes, cassoulet and Filet de Boeuf, as well as an abundance of regional sausages, cheeses, roasted vegetables and a lavish dessert selection. In 1976, a small American winery bested the exalted French wines of the time and sent the wine industry into a tizzy - putting California wines on the map for good. Based on a true story, Bottle Shock chronicles the events leading up to the famous Judgment of Paris tastings, told through the lives of father and son, Jim and Bo Barrett. A former real estate attorney, Jim (Bill Pullman) sacrificed everything to realize his dream of creating the perfect hand-crafted chardonnay. Meanwhile in Paris, unwitting British wine shop owner Steven Spurrier (Alan Rickman) hopes to revive his own failing business by sponsoring a competition which will pit the traditional French powerhouse against the California upstarts. Little did Steven and Jim realize that they were both on course to change the history of wine forever.
